CITI University is actively advancing Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) #17 by fostering broad-based partnerships with government and private sector organizations, international universities, and non-governmental organizations. These collaborations aim to enhance research, academic programs, volunteerism, and human resource development in education, thereby making tangible contributions to social and economic progress. We are also actively working with international organizations in the areas of sustainable development, gender equality, and environmental protection.
The Business School of CITI University, in collaboration with the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI), conducted a study titled “Market Analysis of Commonly Used Construction Materials and Raw Materials.” This research was valuable in shaping the discussions around the 2023 national budget. Additionally, a comprehensive national curriculum on public cultural education was developed at the request of the Ministry of Culture.
CITI University also works closely with the Mongolian Waste Recycling National Association, a member of the International Solid Waste Association. Through the International Institute of Cultural Studies, the university has contributed to the development of Mongolia’s national curriculum on cultural education and the drafting of legislation for the creative industries sector.
The university was a key partner in organizing the “New Kharkhorum CITI Master Planning” international competition and exhibition, initiated by the Mongolian Government. Furthermore, in collaboration with UNESCO and Rio Tinto Mongolia LLC, the university contributed to a sustainable tourism development project in Umnugovi Province as a design consultant, focusing on leveraging cultural and geological heritage.
Faculty members participated in the academic conference titled “Key Issues and Solutions for the Socio-Economic Development of Dornod Province,” where they discussed regional development strategies.
The School of Law contributed to the development of legal education curricula through a national initiative coordinated by the Government of Mongolia and the National Committee on Gender Equality.
In 2024, CITI University successfully hosted the international conference “SDG – ICE and Success” at the State Palace, with representatives from eight countries. The university's commitment to sustainability is further reflected in its internationally published research, such as the article “Green Supply Chain, Green Leadership, Consumer Preferences, Sustainability Attitudes, and Sustainable Business Advantage: A Case of the Vietnamese Textile Industry,” published in the Sustainability journal indexed by IF.
Our partner organization, the PREVENT Waste Alliance, operates at the international level to monitor and report on progress, and collaborates on initiatives focused on waste prevention, collection, recycling, and the promotion of secondary resource use in low- and middle-income countries.
Our university took part in the international study titled “Assessing Student Learning Outcomes in Higher Education Institutions,” organized by five international accreditation organizations. The university received a high evaluation, reflecting the quality and effectiveness of its academic programs and student learning outcomes.
The university’s Prosthetics Laboratory provides cosmetic solutions for individuals with congenital limb differences or those who have lost limbs due to injury, thereby supporting the physical and psychological well-being of persons with disabilities.
As a partner in the Erasmus+ Digital Move project, CITI University is working alongside 12 universities from four countries to study and implement best practices in digital education. The university also draws insights from collaborations with prestigious institutions such as Bai Berlin Art Institute (Germany), Politechnico di Milano (Italy), Tsinghua University (China), Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), and VIT University (India).
Key initiatives in support of quality education, responsible consumption and production, and gender equality include:
A. Student Volunteer Activities:
- The School of Beauty and the School of Law partnered with “Jargalan Edlen” NGO to organize the “Let’s Care for Our Elders” campaign (2023 and 2024).
- The School of Art collaborated with the NGO “We Are from the Tuul River” to clean and restore the Selbe River’s ecosystem.
- The School of Beauty Sciences worked with the Mongolian Nurses’ Association to organize educational events regularly, with approximately 70% participation from female students.
- The School of Humanities participated in a charitable campaign in collaboration with the “Warm Shoes” NGO.
B. Research Programs:
- A joint research project titled “Clothing Production and Sustainable Consumption” was conducted in collaboration with the Designers’ Association.
- A study on “Service Quality, Accessibility, and Staff Behavior in the Hospitality Sector” was carried out in partnership with the Tourism and Education Development Society NGO.
C. Competence of Educational Human Resources:
- In collaboration with the “Mongoljingoo” Women’s NGO, short-term development programs are offered twice a year to empower female students studying design, beauty, and humanities.
- Business students receive training in managing household enterprises through programs also conducted in partnership with the “Mongoljingoo” Women’s NGO.
- One-credit ecological education courses are provided to students in collaboration with the “We Are from the Tuul River” NGO.
Through these initiatives, CITI University demonstrates a strong commitment to SDG #17 by building partnerships that promote sustainable development, education, innovation, and community engagement both nationally and internationally.
